Two Rak'ah

The 2 Rak'ah Salah (Fajr)

Stand facing the direction of the Ka'bah, in a clean place like a prayer mat. This is called Qiyam and the direction is called Qiblah. In the UK the Qiblah is towards the South-East but it is best to get a Qiblah compass to make sure you get the right direction; you can get the compass at any good Islamic bookshop or website. In other countries the direction will be different so make sure you take your compass with you when travelling.

Say your intention either verbally or in your mind with the words:

"I intend to pray two fard rak'ahs of Salatul Fajr for Allah facing the Ka'bah."

Raise your hands up to your ears (females up to their shoulders) and say "Allah u Akbar"

Place you right hand on your left just below your chest and recite Thana':

"Subhannak allahumma wa bi hamdika wata barakas muka wata jadduka wa laa ilaa ha ghayruka. A'oozu billaahi minash shaytanir - rajeem."

Recite Suratul Fatihah (the Opening chapter) of the Qur'an:

"Bismillahir-rahmaanir-raheem, alhamdu lillaahi rabbil 'aalameen ar-rahmaanir-raheem maaliki yawmid-deen, Iyyaka na 'budu wa iyyaka nasta'een ihdinas-siraatal mustaqeem siraatal ladheena an'amta alayheem gharil-magh-doobi 'alayheem wa lad daaaaa leeeeen Ameeen."

Then recite Suratal Ikhlas (112)

"Bismillahir-rahmaanir-raheem, Qul hu wallahu a had Allahus samad lam yalid wa lam yulad wa lam ya kul-la-hu ku-fu-wan ahad"

Bow down saying: "Allah u Akbar"

Place your hands on your knees and say: "subhaana rabbiyal azeem subhaana rabbiyal azeem

subhaana rabbiyal azeem"

Standing up from ruku say:  "sami' allahu liman"

Followed by: "Rabbanaa wa lakal hamd"

Then prostrate again saying: "Allahu Akbar" with your forehead, nose, palms of both hands, your knees and your toes touching the floor.

Recite: "Subhaana rabbiyal a'laa, Subhaana rabbiyal a'laa, Subhaana rabbiyal a'laa."

Get up from the floor and sit upright with your knees bent and palms placed on them and say: "Rah big furly Rah big furly"

Prostrate again saying: "Allahu Akbar"

Recite: "Subhaana rabbiyal a'laa, Subhaana rabbiyal a'laa, Subhaana rabbiyal a'laa."

Get up from this position saying: "Allahu Akbar."

Stand up again and recite Suratul Fatihah (1) and Suratul Ikhlas (112) with your right hand over your left just below your chest:

"Bismillahir-rahmaanir-raheem, alhamdu lillaahi rabbil 'aalameen ar-rahmaanir-raheem maaliki yawmid-deen, Iyyaka na 'budu wa iyyaka nasta'een ihdinas-siraatal mustaqeem siraatal ladheena an'amta alayheem gharil-magh-doobi 'alayheem wa lad daaaaa leeeeen Ameeen."

Bow down saying: "Allah u Akbar"

Place your hands on your knees and say: "subhaana rabbiyal azeem subhaana rabbiyal azeem

Then sit up from this position with your hands on your knees and read: "Atta he ya tu lillahi wa sala watu atie batu as-salaamu alaika auhanabi u wa rak mat allahi wa barakartu as-salaamu alayna wa ala ibadil la hiss saaliheen."

Raise your index finger of your right hand and read: "Ash-hadu allaa ilaaha ill allaahu we ash-hadu anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasooluhu." lower finger.

Say: "Allahu akbar"

Then Read: "Allaahumma solly 'alaa Muhammadin wa 'alaa early Muhammadin kamaa sallayta 'alaa Ibraaheema wa 'alaa early Ibraaheem innaka hameedoom Majeed. Allaahumma baarik 'alaa Muhammadin wa 'alaa early Muhammadin kamaa baarakata 'alaa Ibraaheema wa 'alaa early Ibraaheem innaka hameedoom Majeed."

Turn your head to the right and say: "As-salaamu 'alaykum wa rah mat ullaahi."

Then turn your head to the left and say: "As-salaamu 'alaykum wa rah mat ullaahi."
